The owners of this collection of Mexican Folk Art are members of Los Amigos, a national, non-profit collectors club open to anyone who loves collecting Mexican folk art.

MAINLY-MEXICAN > Dining area of living room.  Atop table made of old Mexican window shutter is a large reproduction talavera jar with serpentine handles made by Uriarte in Puebla, Mexico.   See "Talavera Poblana" cover & pages 44-45 for original made in 1660.  Original watercolor painting entitled "Las Ocho Tarascas" by Martha Allen of Bandera, Texas.   Mexican folk art

MAINLY-MEXICAN > Tooled leather and wood bar & bar stools made in Peru in 1970's. Small collection of pulque pitchers sit atop bar. Two original watercolor paintings of Mexican architecture by husband & wife, Edith & John Maskey of Comfort, Texas hang above the bar and were purchased from them at the annual art festival in Fredricksburg, TX in 1999. MAINLY-MEXICAN > Corner china cabinet made in Mexico.  On top of cabinet are three vases made by Capello of Guanajuato and purchased at his home in 3/2000.  See "Artesanias de Guanajuato" pages 22-27 for more information on Capello.  The inside top shelf  features work by Daphne Reynolds of Bierne, Texas.  Work is high fired and reminisent of early tourist pottery from Mexico. Middle shelf features pieces made by Gorky Gonzales of Guanajuato and purchased from him at his home 3/2000.  See  "Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art" pages 62-65 and "Mexicolor" page 67-69.  Bottom shelf features talavera from Uriarte in Puebla, Mexico purchased there from 1996-2001.  Uriarte is one of the oldest, longest operating talavera factories in Mexico where everything is completely handmade and hand painted. Mexican folk art
